Michael Vick To Play Football On Release
August 13, 2008
> Peter King caught UFL commisioner Michael Huyghue at the Panthers training camp to discuss the UFL and get the low-down on what is happening. From this discussion we got some great news about the new teams, salary caps, and more. But we will cover those jucie tidbits later. The most interesting news was that Michael Vick will be playing UFL when he is released from the federal prision in July of 2009. Huyghue has stated that the chances of Vick playing for the UFL is about 98%.
With a 20 million dollar cap for the team. Vick will be able to recoup some of his losses from prison time by making anywhere from 1 million to 4 million a year.
For a while I have been speculating that Vick would be coming to the UFL. Personally I think this will be good for the UFL even if he caries a fowl oder. Any press good or bad is good press. What do you think?
UFL in Long Island?
March 27, 2008
I heard it through the grapevine that Charles Wang wants to bring the United Football League to Long Island, New York. Charles is co-founder of CA Inc., the computer software management company formerly known as Computer Associates. He also has experience in sports ownership as he is the owner of the New York Islanders pro hockey team and the New York Dragons arena football team. The question now is, where would a UFL team play, as far as I know, there is no stadium large enough to host them.
Possible Push Back to 2009
March 21, 2008
UFLaccess is reporting that the UFL will now officially launch in 2009 instead of the original date of August 2008. I am going to say this is still a rumor until we see it on the official UFL website, but UFL2008.com is so far behind in news that it wouldn’t surprise me if it doesn’t have updated news yet.
The rumor is that Commissioner Huyghue met with agents on Friday night at the NFL Combine and reported to them that the United Football League will hold the first draft in April of 2009. He apparently also reported that the first kickoff date will be in 2009 also.
The Official UFL Website
March 18, 2008
Ok, so on a previous UFL Nation post we stated that UFL is currently using ufl2008.com as their website domain. After digging through some press releases, I have come accross the true domain (undeveloped) for the UFL. It seems they are using www.ufl-football.com as the official site based on the domain registration information. Personally, I think they should have used this domain from the start. The only reason they may have not is that they are not satisfied with it. Typically you want all one word with no dash. But seams to me that they were slow to get some of the great UFL domain names out there in the beginning.
Note to the UFL (and anyone else)
I happen to own a few great UFL domains myself if your interested!
